We
are a small select stud of prizewinning Welsh Cobs established for over 35
years, dedicated to the continuation of Welsh Cobs of quality and
substance as described within the Stud Book. Although breeding Welsh
Cobs since 1977, we feel that we started seriously with the purchase of Blaencwm Cherry Ripe - Sire Parc Welsh Flyer, Dam Blaencwm Chess 2nd, by
Verwig Mathrafal. |

Cherry had bred prizewinners at Ty'r Eos for Rob & Val to a variety of stallions and when she came to Penycrug she was mated to the Stud Stallion Aberaeron Matador - Sire Brenin Dafydd, Dam Aberaeron Nans Merch Sian, by Pentre Eiddwen Comet.
That mating produced Penycrug
Tarian, a prolific winner as a youngster and also as a mare, she has also proved to be an excellent broodmare producing quality prizewinning stock. |
Cherry was mated to Cyttir Telynor and produced Penycrug Telynor, he was a prolific prizewinner, was the highest priced male at the
1987 RWAS Sale and was German National Champion in 1988. Then she went to Brenin Dafydd and produced Penycrug Dafydd Du, a prizewinner as a foal, who was then sold to Sharon Coburn and Tony Clothier |

As Cherry became older she disliked travelling to stallions and as a result Pantlleinau Trysor - Sire Derwen Replica, Dam Pantlleinau Brenhines by Twyford Druid, was purchased from Humphrey Jones, Pantlleinau, to mate with her. These two produced some beautiful stock, some of which we have kept (See mares at
Stud), and others have gone on to give new owners tremendous pleasure. These include Penycrug Terwyn, stud stallion at the Goyallt Stud, he is producing sale topping stock such as Goyallt Dai, sold to Ron McNeal and family of the Hillgarth Stud. Penycrug Telynores
sold by Neil & Karen Parry at the 2006 Brightwells sale for 4,500 and Penycrug Tawela her last foal, purchased by Elgan and Bethan Jones of the Gwtharfarn Stud. |
